Before Calling our Help Desk

If you need to call us for technical support, it would be especially helpful if you could be at your computer, and have the following information readily available:

  • The type of computer you are using (e.g., Pentium, 486, Macintosh)
  • The type of operating system you are running (e.g., Windows 95)
  • The type of software you're using (e.g., Dial-Up Networking, Netscape)
  • The brand, model and maximum speed of your modem
  • The exact wording of any error message(s) you received
  • Your SoHoConnect account username (login ID) and password
  • The SoHoConnect dial-in number you were attempting to dial

It would also be very helpful to know:

  • Whether or not you have always experienced the problem
  • What change(s) you made prior to the problem occurring
  • What steps you have taken in an attempt to fix the problem
  • If you have checked our support site for information on the problem
  • If you have contacted our Help Desk for assistance
