Setting up a Windows 95 Manual Login

Windows 95 allows you to login to SoHoConnect in two ways:

This page explains how to configure your Windows 95 system for a manual login. Please only follow this guide if you do not have Dial-Up Scripting installed, or if you have problems with your login script. If you have Dial-Up Scripting installed and/or enabled, you will firstly need to disable it.

To do so, firstly, click the Start button, click Programs, Accessories and Dial-Up Scripting Tool. When the scripting tool appears, the Connections window contains a list of all the Dial-Up Networking icons you have created. Click the SoHoConnect entry. In the File name field on the right, there should be a path and filename pointing to the SoHoConnect's PPP login script. Delete the entire contents of the File name field. Click Apply and then click Close.

You now need to configure your SoHoConnect Dial-Up Networking icon so that it brings up a terminal window after you have connected.

To do this, go to your your Windows desktop, double click My Computer and double click Dial-Up Networking. Click on the SoHoConnect icon once. Click the File menu and select Properties. Click Configure. Click the Options tab and place a tick in the tick box titled Bring up terminal window after dialling. Make sure that the option to bring up a terminal window before dialling is unticked. Click OK and click OK again to exit the properties of your SoHoConnect Dial-Up Networking icon.
